Sussex 'a good county for small companies'
27/03/2007
There will be plenty of opportunities for small businesses in Sussex to make profits in the run-up to the 2012 Olympic Games, a business chief states.
Mark Froud, chief executive of Sussex Chamber of Commerce, suggests that the county is a place where small firms can thrive, reports the Argus.
However, he adds that it is important local businesses realise the good prospects before it is too late.
"A total of 82 per cent of start-up businesses in Sussex survive their first two years compared to 80 per cent in Berkshire," Mr Froud told the publication.
"If you look at the number of VAT-registered companies across the whole of Sussex there has been a steady increase over the past 15 years. So we aren't seeing huge numbers of business failures."
Sustainability is also a way in which companies can make profits, he remarks, with the development of environmentally-friendly technologies offering potential rewards to firms.
