Small Business Forum launched
09/05/2007
A new forum has been established with the aim of allowing a greater degree of communication between government officials and small and medium-sized business (SMB) communities across the UK.
The Small Business Forum will see the minister for industry and regions Margaret Hodge meet with ten business owners at a time to discuss any issues of concern and to develop efforts to progress British enterprises.
And with the number of SMBs in the UK now numbering more than 4.3 million, Ms Hodge has expressed her keenness to work with business bosses and to make the UK the "best place in the world" for enterprises on this scale.
"The UK is already ranked as one of the best places in the world to start and grow a business, but it could be even better," remarked Ms Hodge.
"I am delighted to have this opportunity to hear the views of small and medium enterprises and their representatives."
She went on to note that SMBs currently account for close to half of all turnover within the UK's private sector.
