SE launches new scheme for businesses
16/03/2007

A scheme which aims to improve Scotland's businesses has been established by Scottish Enterprise (SE).

The Dunbartonshire Future Leaders Programme has been launched to help increase the number of workers with leadership training, the SE states, with recent studies showing that 27 per cent of managers in the UK have had such courses of this ilk.

Since the launch of the initiative, nearly 50 senior managers have found new skills which have been used to make their companies grow, it is suggested.

"This programme is all about improving leadership skills to improve productivity," said SE Dunbartonshire's operations director Jim McAloon.

"Productivity improvements among companies across all sectors are needed if we are to narrow the wealth gap with our main European competitors."

On the continent, more is produced per employee and Scotland needs to do more to improve basic business performance, he added.
