New initiative to target 'businesspeople of the future'

Sixth-form students in Yorkshire considering careers in business and finance are being targeted by a new initiative in the region, it has emerged.
Aiming to raise the aspirations of such youngsters, the Academy of Finance programme has been launched in a number of schools in the Leeds area, reports the Yorkshire Evening Post.
The course involves practice in business education and activity, as well as paid summer internships with participating companies.
Senior representatives from the Leeds Financial Services Initiative (LFSI), as well as a number Leeds' financial sector firms, are backing the scheme, which has started at Brigshaw High School, Allerton Bywater and Temple Moor High School so far.
LFSI's chief executive John Ansbro commented: "The Leeds academy is a part of our long-term strategy to both meet the skills needs of the future and also for financial employers to become more involved in the local community.
"The programme has got off to a good start and a third academy will be launched at Garforth Community College in September."
