Council leader to address Edinburgh's business chiefs
14/02/2007
The leader of Edinburgh's council will address business leaders in the city today and urge them to aim for success.
Politicians will also be in attendance as Ewan Aitken encourages the Scottish capital's business chiefs to help make the city a recognised centre of importance, reports the Scotsman.
The work of local businesses can help promote the country of Scotland as a whole, he will add.
Companies in Edinburgh, including a number which would have taken out business loans in the past, belong to a city which is "a real capital city", according to the councillor.
Speaking before the event, Mr Aitken remarked: "A strong nation needs a strong capital with the opportunity to contribute even more to the nation's growth and sense of identity.
"Unfortunately, Edinburgh amongst the rest of the nation still remains to many a pejorative term. Until we, all of us, can get over that, the nation will suffer."
