Businesses 'want health services to save them money'
02/03/2007

More than two-thirds of businesses think that an occupational health or health-screening service would save them money, according to HSA.

Yet less than half of firms actually provide such services, the "simple health group" states.

As a consequence, the company is to re-launch its WorkWell plan, which will allow businesses more flexibility when it comes to health issues, in addition to keeping costs down.

The new scheme will allow companies to select benefits that are individually relevant to their own work, as well as including a section for everyday healthcare such as dental, optical and physiotherapy.

John Dean, sales and distribution director at HSA, said: "The main reason cited for [not having a health-screening service] was cost, so we have developed a plan that helps companies to access these services at an affordable price.

"With a range of payment options to suit any budget, we hope these services will become much more accessible to companies of all sizes."

Also included in the plan is access to an employee-assistance programme, which offers the opportunity for face-to-face counselling.
