Businesses get podcast help from HMRC
13/04/2007

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) has launched a new podcast service, aiming to help businesses cope with the filing of their end of year tax return.

Taking advantage of the nation's love of the iPod, HMRC has developed the podcast ahead of the deadline for filing tax returns, which this year falls on May 19th.

An Employer's Annual Return must be filed by a company if they have "engaged an employee and deducted PAYE and National Insurance" according to Revenue & Customs.

Using the podcast, employers can be taken through the process step-by-step, to hopefully ensure they file their return correctly and with ease.

A penalty of up to £3,000 could be faced by companies that employ 50 or more staff that do not file a return online, HMRC has warned.
