Gina Citroni, commercial director of Brighton-based electronics engineering company Amplicon, suggests that it has to be one or the other, reports the Argus.
She also reveals to the newspaper that she is tired of the sexist attitudes which currently prevail in the workplace.
"I've lost out to promotions in the past because employers assumed I'd be taking time out to have children," said Ms Citroni. "I'm sick to death of the sexist adverts and comments."
And highlighting how women can have the drive to make millions of pounds in business, she states her aims for the company's future.
"I'm going to make [my business worth} £10 million in the next two years, 20 in the next five years and 50 in ten years. Then I'm retiring," she indicates.
Moreover, she says that more women can follow her pathway to financial success in business by refusing to accept "no" as an answer.
