UK Building Construction Guide

Construction involves the gathering and building of certain items usually involving property and structures. Construction materials include: wood, metal, brick, stone, plastic, mud, iron, sheetrock, prefabricated materials, thatch, marble and glass.

Construction sites are set up on the land bought by a client with the intent to build a home. Construction of a home can be set back by lack of money or an excess of rain or bad weather.

A construction site is run by a contractor or foreman who will direct the project and also work with an architect to determine the design.

Surveyors are also brought onto early construction sites to determine the mapping and boundaries of the land.

Large scale construction projects require project management and serious multi-tasking. The construction process not only includes the development of the outside of a building but also the infrastructure which can include installing electricity and plumbing and the deviation of space.

Construction contracts are necessary to ensure what the client expects from the builder. The contract will typically outline the budget, the time frame of the work to be completed and the design and materials to be used.
