Anti-fraud award given to Barclays
05/04/2007

Barclays Bank is using new technology to improve businesses processes, according to a UK awarding body.

As a consequence, the bank has been presented with the Anti-Fraud Strategy of the Year prize at the Financial Sector Technology Awards.

The organisation's use of advanced transaction profiling tools, which help to locate and stop fraud, was commended at the ceremony.

Additionally, the customer initiatives it has established in order to increase security protection for online banking, such as free anti-virus software for online banking customers, were acknowledged.

Barclays also has a SMS text message confirmation service which comes into use when third-party payments are organised to new online accounts - this was another feature commented on during the bank's night of success.

Barnaby Davis, director for electronic banking, said: "Barclays works 24/7 to combat online fraud and ensure our customers and their money are safe.

"This award is a reflection of how much we have done in the last year."
